冷冽溪水中的一隻魚
I am a fish in glacial creek water
有著海洋的記憶
Having the memories of the ocean
卻不曾記得
But do not recall
擁抱過的大海
If ever immersed in it
我有一個泰雅名 叫neban
I have an Atayal name called neban
也有一個日本名 叫サクラマス
And a Japanese name called Sakura-masu
還有一個中文名 叫
Also a Chinese name called
櫻花鉤吻鮭
Formosan landlocked salmon
我有著許多的名字
I have plenty of names
卻還是忘了自己是誰
And yet still forgotten who I am
海，是一個遙遠的記憶
Ocean, is a distant memory
但，是我即將起航前往之處
But also, the place I will be sailing towards
銀色的波光點點
Silver shimmering glistens
是散落的祖靈的呼喚
Are the callings from the ancestral spirits who were dispersed
呼喚著
Hollering
讓我記起海的顏色
So that I can recall the colours of the sea
雖然
Although
至今我還是無法想起
I still cannot remember
但是
Still
我想明天會有多好呢？
How fine will tomorrow be?
會讓我在記憶的海中游泳嗎？
Will I be swimming in the ocean from memory
會讓我記起所有的美好嗎？
Will I recall all the finest things?
海 捲起層層的濤聲
The Ocean rumbles rolls of susurration
向我訴說著遠古的故事
And told me stories from ancient times
無奈
Unfortunately
我已聽不懂他的話語
I no longer understand the language
因為深深的海
Because the deep ocean
我已陌生
Is strange to me now
廣闊無垠的金色海岸
Vast and boundless golden shores
我也已然陌生
Are also completely unfamiliar
其實
In fact
山是我現在的家
Mountains are my home now
他們也說
They who have said
我們是山居的民族
We are the mountainous people
我不曾再遷移
I have not relocated ever since
因為我忘了洄游的方式
Because I forgot how to swim back
暖暖的陽光撒下
Under the toasty sunshine
涓涓的泉水流淌
Streaming creek runs
流成了池
And streamed into a pond
聚成了潭
Till it gathered up a lake
魚啊！
Ah, Fish!
其實我一直認為自己是一隻苦花

但身上卻烙印著
But on my body there is imprinted

The marks of the sea
萬年了
For hundreds of thousands of years
冰河退卻了
The glacier retreated
他卻忘了帶我
It had forgotten to take me with it

And I had forgotten about myself
